Vidsy was at the Web Summit

Last week, we were in Lisbon to join the largest tech conference in the world, the Web Summit. Below, we leave you with some of our thoughts.
People, people everywhere
Gone are the days when the Web Summit was a tiny conference in Ireland. This year’s edition, in Portugal, is the largest ever with approximately 50,000 people joining. There were more than 2000 start-ups presenting, but also lots of investors, speakers and corporate attendees. Inside the event itself, there are several conferences you can attend: our favourites were ContentMakers and Saas Monsters.
Video is the next big thing
We have been helping brands get ready for 2017 as a massive year for mobile video and the Web Summit confirmed it. In one of our favourite talks with Maurice Levy, president of Publicis and Dave Gibbs, CMO of Facebook both made video a priority for the next year.
Facebook is putting more resources into promoting live video and 360 both online and offline. Live video will also be launched on Instagram. On another note, everyone in the panel agreed that advertisers and publishers have now more analytical and distribution tools than ever. The challenge for brands is now on the creative side. Most companies want to be more agile, come up with always on campaigns for social and online but they are struggling to find cost effective and scalable ways of doing it.
This is where we fit
It was great for us to see big weights in the industry discussing problems that we are addressing and solving. We’re obviously only 1% done but we’re growing fast and our content speaks for itself.
